$110-Million Development Unveiled at DTLA’s Morrison Hotel


Relevant Group has revised its plans to reactivate South Park’s 103-year-old Morrison Hotel to include the construction of a new 12-story building on an adjacent parking lot, according to the Downtown News.

The $110-million project, which first emerged last year, also calls for rehabilitating the 103-year-old original Morrison building, which is located at the northeast corner of Pico Boulevard and Hope Street.  A full build out of the project would generated 245 hotel rooms, as well as ancillary functions such as a roof deck, a swimming pool and a 24,000-square-foot public plaza.

In many ways, the project takes cues from another Relevant project: the newly finished Dream Hollywood.  That hotel, located near the intersection of Selma Avenue and Cahuenga Boulevard, converted an existing alley to a pedestrian thoroughfare lined with restaurant space and outdoor seating.

This is the first Downtown project for Relevant, which is also behind the ongoing Thompson Hotel development in Hollywood.  Completion of the Morrison is expected in 2020.
